Join the Oarsmen
We are looking for current Freshman and Sophomore Parents to join the Oarsmen Club for this season.
As such, we look to the Freshman and Sophomore Parents to "learn the ropes" so that they can take over in their son's sophomore or junior crew years.
It is vital that you step up and join!
IF THERE is no one to take over the Oarsmen Club next year then there is No crew season. Please help us keep a great Bosco Program going!
Joining the Oarsmen Club
In order for the Crew Program to be able to continue to provide food and shelter for our boys at each race there must be a pipeline of Parents that will get involved in the Oarsmen Club and take over as other Parents transition out of their leadership roles.
We feel that Junior Parents should be serving as President and Vice President. Senior Parents should remain on the advisory board but should not serve as President or VP due to their responsibilities of getting their sons into college. As such, Parents need to get involved in their Freshmen and Sophomore years in order to gain the experience needed to serve in their Junior Year.
Freshman Parents
In addition to volunteering for each Regatta, we recommend that you get involved with either the food preparation team or with the Chuck Wagon Towing Oarsmen leaders. This will allow you to be mentored by a more experienced member of the Oarsmen Club.
Sophomore Parents
In the Fall and Winter we recommend that you work with the President and Vice President on the Erg Classic. Get involved with planning or fundraising for the Erg Classic. In the spring we recommend that you get involved in the weekly planning for each regatta. By the end of the spring you should be ready to transition into a leadership position within the Oarsmen Club.
Junior Parents
You should now be in a leadership position within the Oarsmen Club. In the Fall and Winter be involved with planning, execution and fundraising for the Erg Classic. In the spring you will be involved in the weekly planning for each regatta as well as planning the overnights at cities and the end of year crew dinner.. You will have the Senior Advisors at your disposal for any advice that you may seek.
Senior Parents
Senior Parents that served in leadership positions in their Junior Year will now need time to focus on getting their sons into college. As such they will serve, in most cases, in an advisory role only.
